Below is a useful document so you can find out a bit more about Year 3.
Teaching about safeguarding
As a school we are committed to safeguarding children. We want to ensure children are aware of unacceptable behaviours towards them, and how they can keep themselves safe.
Specific examples of this in the Year 3 curriculum are:
- Teaching PSHE where we show the children how to keep safe, how to look after themselves and how to recognise needs in others.
- We read books such as James and the Giant Peach which looks at different aspects of safeguarding children.
- In science, where we look at nutrition and eating healthy foods.
- In computing, we look at keeping children safe online.
As part of the broader curriculum in Year 3 we routinely;
Ensure each child knows they must talk to a trusted adult if they are worried about themselves or another person.
Remind the class Mrs Appleby, Mrs Ackroyd and Mrs Tipping have a special job in school to make sure everyone is safe.
